High-G®
Safety Seat Discussed in SoTech
"Tougher Choppers" Article
The
October 2004 issue of Special Operations Technology (SoTech)
magazine features an interesting article on the development
of "survivability systems" for helicopter crews
and passengers. The article states that the primary cause
of death in helicopter crashes has shifted from post-crash
fires during the Vietnam era to contact injuries today. Spinal
column injuries have been greatly reduced thanks to the development
of crashworthy seats such as the Oregon Aero® High-G®
Seat.
The SoTech article states, "Over
a 13-year development period, [Oregon Aero] developed theOregon
Aero® High-G® Seat and even customized it to meet the
special needs of the Sikorsky MH-53 flight engineer seat."
Oregon Aero CEO Mike Dennis is quoted saying, "Comfort
and safety are synonymous." Oregon Aeros research
shows that a comfortable seat is also a safe seat. The article
also mentions Oregon Aeros complete military headset
upgrades that eliminate pain, reduce noise, and improve impact
protection.
