The Oregon Aero® Seat Cushion Upgrade |

begin to remove a Mooney's original upholstery. |

original foam material is revealed. |

entire seat is disassembled. |

| The
frame is cleaned, inspected and, if necessary, repaired. |

| The
upgraded seat is created layer by layer with as many as
20 differently shaped pieces and as many as seven different
materials, including temperature- and pressure-sensitive
vicso-elastic foam. Pieces are bonded together with a
specially developed fire-resistant spray adhesive. |
|
| Gail
cuts material for a precise fit as the custom designed
seat cushion bottom is constructed. The designs and materials
for the seat back and bottom together create a painless
seating position, rotating the user's hips and pelvis
forward and creating a smooth lumbar curve. |

outer polyfoam jacket is custom-cut and fit over the upgrade.
The polyfoam provides loft to the upholstery and protects
the visco-elastic foam from abrasion. |

Oregon Aero received an interesting
e-mail several weeks after the above article appeared: "Five
minutes after reading about Oregon Aero’s seat (upgrade) in
the July issue of Aviation Consumer, I called and scheduled
(an upgrade) of the pilot seat of my Piper Cherokee 180...I
was called to find out how the seat should be shipped back.
To my surprise, the caller was the woman who had done the work
on my seat...Excellent customer service...It now has three hours
of time logged by my rear end. What a difference. It’s stiff
at first, as expected, but after a minute the conformal foam
has taken the shape of my body...I fidget less and enjoy the
flight more...It was worth the price."

Q
How do you know how to upgrade my particular seat to fit me?
A
We have many years of experience and have worked with virtually
every type of aircraft. First, our seat cushion designs
take into account the environment of the aircraft interior.
If there’s something unusual about the interior or the
aircraft, we probably know about it. But if we don’t,
we’ll ask you a lot of questions. Second, the
design of our custom seat cushions will shift any person using
the seat into the proper, painless sitting position. Third,
our seat cushions are "smart." They are pressure
and temperature sensitive and adjust to each user. Fourth,
we can alter the seat cushion design for extremely short or
tall persons, or for persons with special physical needs.
