| Weve
designed 17 ejection seat Cushion systems and continue to add
to the list. |
|
| |
 |
| |
|
The cushion systems have been tested at seven military and independent
testing facilities, including Wright Patterson Air Force Base,
where the APECSŪ I went through drop tower testing installed
on the ACES II ejection seat (above). |
|
| |
| The
APECSŪ I kept spinal lumbar loads to less than 1500 lbs.,
up to 18.6Gs when tested during high-G terrain-following missions
and crash testing. |
|
| |
|
The pelvic angle, lumbar spine radius
and relative positions of vertebrae create an ideal sitting
position. |
|
| |
| All
27 pilots recommended the Oregon Aero seat cushion system as
standard equipment. |

Aero often has access to military equipment such as this Oregon
Air National Guard simulator the company used when designing
the APECSŪ I Ejection Seat Cushion System. |

 |
| |
| We
use this portable, digital measuring arm to reverse engineer
an ejection seat (in this case, an F-4). The 3-D image is used
to make an exact plastic or metal seat model we work with to
manufacture the seat cushion system. |

Aero®SM Seat Cushion
Systems:
Ejection Seats |
 |
| |
Seventeen custom designs (and counting). Painless seating, no matter
how long the flight. Improved impact protection. Unanimous praise
from pilots. Dramatically reduced maintenance.
Oregon Aeros Ejection Seat
Cushion Systems solve a lot of problems and let pilots focus
on the job at hand without the distraction of seat pain.

Everybody
Wanted the Oregon Aero® Seat Cushions!
Evaluation
of Oregon Aero's APECS® I Cushion
System for ACES II ejection seat went unusually well
- to the point that the evaluation engineer stated: " I
can only add that this is the first time in my engineering
experience that I have seen an evaluation go this
well."
Testing performed in the F-15 and F-16. Twenty-seven different
pilots flew with the cushion, all pilots recommended the Oregon
Aero® APECS® I Cushion System be made standard
equipment for the ACES II ejection seat. |

| An
Example of Oregon Aeros Attention to Detail |
During
testing of the APECSŪ I design in
an F-15 cockpit procedures simulator, the jet fighters
seat felt fine when the pilot was in street clothes. When
pilots tested the same seat during a mission, however, they
complained of pressure on the lower back. Oregon Aero discovered
a strap of the pilots body harness was located directly
over a pelvic support wedge, causing pressure. A simple change
cured the problem.
The APECSŪ I cushions kept spinal
lumbar loads to less than 1500 pounds, up to 18.6Gs, when tested during
high-G terrain-following missions and crash testing. |
X-ray
of Person Sitting In the Oregon Aero®
APECSŪ I Ejection Seat
Cushion System |
 |
This
x-ray should convince anybody whos still a skeptic!
It shows that what we illustrate with models and say with
words IS TRUE. The position shown in this x-ray is ideal
for painless sitting. This position also produces the greatest
resistance by the spine to injury from a vertical acceleration
in the straight-up "Z" axis of the spine. |

Horizontal
datum (point from which other data is measured). |
| Line
B: |
Angle
of the pelvis relative to the Line A. Angular difference
from the horizontal datum (Line A) is +13°. Ideal
position. |

Radius
of the lumbar spine, 24.5 cm. Ideal position. |

adjacent vertebra (i.e., angular measurement of the vertebrae
relative to each other). Angular difference is 9°. Ideal

Surface
of the vertebra relative to Line D-2, the surface of the
adjacent vertebra (i.e. angular measurement of the vertebrae
relative to each other). Angular difference is 7°. Ideal

more cut fabric or bent stiffeners, which cause repairs

snap mounting on tabs can be used with any seat assembly
models stud placement. Leather anti-chafe plate
keeps the visible screw heads from cutting into fabric another
maintenance saver! |
